They say that April showers bring May flowers, but the DC area has seen quite a bit of rainfall these early days of May. Anyone who lives in a city knows that a flimsy pocket-sized umbrella might fall victim to the torrential rainfall and gusting winds that blow between high office buildings. But one also must think about being a courteous sidewalk or metro user by not pulling out the 60″ diameter sturdy golf umbrella that makes it impossible to walk alongside any another pedestrian.
I have found my ideal umbrella to be the long, classy ones with the wooden handles. As long as the diameter of your umbrella won’t knock over fellow pedestrians, I believe that it is a sound investment to make. Here are some of my top finds.
1. Totes Luggage Auto Wooden Stick Umbrella: This first one below I found on Amazon.com for less than $20. It boasts a sturdy wooden handle and a 48″ canopy. I personally like the color and the price the best out of the other picks.
2. London Fog Auto Stick Umbrella: The dimensions of this next umbrella are the same as the previous, except this one comes in a sophisticated and classy black hue. Priced at $30, the umbrellas are also offered in numerous checkered patterns.
3. Diagonal Stripe Bloomsbury Umbrella: If you need more color and excitement for your rainy day, the umbrella below will fit the job description. It has a slightly smaller coverage for courteous side-walking; however, the Lulu Guinness Bloomsbury Umbrella is the most pricey at $62.
